Updated October Info

As of Saturday October 11 APPLE pick your own is CLOSED. Due to the overwhelming crowd we had today our pick your own orchards got cleaned out. We still have the Harvest Hoedown Oct 12 and 13 which includes pick your own pumpkins, hayrides, live music, pony rides, etc. We have a nice selection of our own already picked apples available in the farmstand as well as our own fresh pressed apple cider. If you missed apple picking remember, we begin picking around Labor Day weekend (1st or 2nd weekend of September) so next year be sure to come earlier !! ~CNS

It is my understanding some people were disappointed that we closed pick your own apples this weekend. This was most evident when we had to have a police officer present to stop the angry people who were threatening our employees (some of them teenagers). Quite frankly I cannot see getting that upset over apple picking and i find it troubling. Anyone who purchased an apple picking bag and did not find enough apples before we posted the closed signs was FULLY REFUNDED their apple picking money when they asked. As stated in our advertising and on this website, we cannot ensure apple picking is available at the end of the season (it has to end sometime).
The minimal parking charge covered the need for additional parking staff due to the Harvest Hoedown (pumpkin picking, hayrides, live bands, pony rides, etc etc )which was occuring at the same time and so stated on the entrance sign. Extra parking staff is hired in an attempt to keep traffic flowing in an organized manner so that people do not get upset over crowded parking. It is painfully evident however this is a no win situation - hire more people to help park cars to keep people happy but who are now upset over paying to park.

Hi

I have been a visitor to the farm in the past but have never been during the "Hoedown". I found the crowds to be hectic but my boys enjoyed themselves. The parking fee was not all that bad considering another certain farm in Natick wanted to charge me $14 per adult and $12 per child to enter - then their apples were $3 per pound to pick besides!! Smith Farm did have a parking fee of $4 but there were other events going on as well that day. Other times i have been for apple picking did not have a parking fee. The line for the hayride was too long but our tractor driver was very nice and informative about the farm and what they grow. My only complaint was the two women arguing behind me over who cut in front of who at the pony ride. I wanted to tell both of them to grow up but decided not to get involved. Overall it was good time.
