Fall Update 1

Wow...hard to believe but fall is closing in on us. Pick your own Apples will begin on schedule Labor Day Weekend. McIntosh will be the first up for harvest. Several weather factors have lent itself to a nice apple crop year. Last year's rainy summer produced very large apples but due to the high water contant, some varieties were rather tasteless compared to normal. This year's dry weather, although not very healthy for our lawns, will result in somewhat smaller sized fruit with more flavor. Please keep your fingers crossed that the hurricanes remain out in the Atlantic. As you can imagine, the strong winds would not bode well for trees and fruit alike. Hope to see you in the orchard soon. Please remember to follow the pick your own rules posted at the orchard entrance so that everyone can enjoy the farm responsibly and safely! Thank you.

We bought some white corn at Smith Farm on Sunday, 9/5, and it was the BEST CORN we've had all year! (and we grown corn in our garden!) It was so fresh and so very sweet! We wish we knew what variety it was so
we can buy the same seed for our garden next year.
